Wallet Storj: STORJ token joins HolyTransaction

As of today, you can instantly purchase Storj on HolyTransaction, transfer them to any HolyTransaction’s customer for free, and do crypto-to-crypto swaps between your Wallet Storj and more than other 30 cryptocurrencies.

The Storj project provides for a decentralized cloud storage facility and is originally pronounced as “storage“.

Storj’s main aim is to rent a space on the secondary storage devices of the members of its network and pay them in cryptocurrency, for their service they provide. Therefore, Storj’s native cryptocurrency token is STORJ, which can be stored on HolyTransaction now.

“The main difference between Storj and other decentralized cloud storage platforms is that Storj only uses blockchain to manage payments and not to store data. This is due to the high cost and slow speeds found in blockchains. For example, even the fastest blockchains process data/payments in seconds. Meanwhile, traditional cloud storage solutions, like Amazon S3, can store files in milliseconds – many orders of magnitude faster than even the fastest blockchains.”

Shawn Wilkinson (Founder of Storj)

The Storj platform offers online storage similar to Dropbox or Google Drive, but does so over a distributed network. Renting out unused extra space on our hard drives is referred to as, Farming, for instance. The process as simple as downloading a client from the network, choosing the amount of space to be rented, and a wallet address to store the incentives received in the form of cryptocurrency.

All HolyTransaction customers can create a new address for STORJ and use the simple HolyTransaction Web Wallet to send and receive transactions or to instantly convert them to any other cryptocurrency.

Just like with Bitcoin, you can:

  • Send STORJ to any address, even to addresses of other cryptocurrencies with instant conversion on the fly;
  • Receive transactions;
  • Exchange STORJ with any supported coins;
  • Make instant transactions between HT users;
  • Get real time exchange rates on the website;
  • Set OTP for additional protection.

To add Wallet Storj just click on the “plus” button you find at the top right of the balance page, once you successfully enter into your wallet.

You can find the “plus” button to select the wallets you want to see in the main page like shown in the picture below:

Always more companies are developing a private blockchain for their security reasons or aim at using the bitcoin blockchain for their business objectives.

In the latest blogs, in fact, we talked about companies such as DARPA or AirBnB who plan to use the blockchain for their private goals.

The “blockchain as a service” partnership

Well, today we want to talk about Amazon Web Services (AWS) who recently announced its collaboration with Digital Currency Group (DCG), one of the most important investors in the blockchain, to provide to DCG’s startups a secure place to work and a technical support for their projects related to bitcoin.
Amazon Web Services, in fact, provides cloud computing services for websites and applications, so the blockchain could be very useful to improve their database security and other objectives.

The DCG empire

The DCG startups portfolio includes almost 100 Bitcoin companies from all around the world, including Chain and RSK and recently it received a big investment from Mastercard, Western Union, New York Life, Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce and more.
In a recent post, Amazon Web Services developer Scott Mullins explained the partnership between AWS and DCG.
“Today in financial services, distributed ledger technology is at the forefront of any discussion related to innovation. AWS is working with financial institutions and blockchain providers to spur innovation and facilitate frictionless experimentation. DCG is a recognized leader in distributed ledger technology, and we are excited to work with them and their portfolio companies to provide laboratory environments for enterprise experimentation with blockchain technology on AWS”.

Ethereum and Arcade City could kill Uber

A few days ago Don Tapscott suggested the idea that the blockchain could cause the death of services like Uber and Airbnb.
And it seems like this is truly happening, as a service called Arcade City has officially published a press release where they “declare war on Uber over fare cuts and plan to replace drivers with self-driving cars”.

Arcade City is an open marketplace where riders connect directly with drivers. It only works via a mobile app, available for both iOS and Android.

How it works

Let the company speaks for itself:

It works through the Ethereum Blockchain

Most importantly, Arcade City integrates the Ethereum blockchain.
During a recent interview with CoinTelegraph, Christopher David, founder at Arcade City, commented:

“the main deciding factor was that the vision of Ethereum aligns precisely with our own vision of peer-to-peer transportation and distributed logistics”.

Where can we move with Arcade City?

At the moment Arcade City is active in the US.
These are the states: Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, New Mexico, North Carolina, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia, Washington and Washington D.C.
Drivers are also available in Australia; while Mexico, Canada and Sweden will be launched next spring.

Microsoft Opens to Bitcoin

Since the end of 2014 Microsoft Corporation has started to test the blockchain technology.

In fact, Microsoft wants to create its own blockchain-as-a-service (BaaS) product and since they have opened their Azure cloud computing platform, the American company has added a growing number of partners to its BaaS solution including ConsenSys, Emercoin and MultiChain.
With Azure and BaaS people will be able to use different technologies (from smart contracts to blockchain-based tax reporting services) in a safer and easier way than in the past.
We can’t wait to see the finished product and Marley Gray, Microsoft‘s director of technology strategy, promises that this “certified blockchain marketplace” will be ready within this spring.
The Importance of the Blockchain
Although blockchain is revolutioning the whole payments system, the real revolution are the bitcoins behind it.
The Blockchain is a secure ledger that records and stores every transaction in the network. Thanks to that there is no need for “trusted” third parties such as banks and this is why the Blockchain is a great game changer.
Its implications extend not only to bitcoin transactions, but it can be useful in various fields: from real estate to copyrights, from music to cinema, etc. In fact nowadays there is an increasing number of new startups that are working on innovative projects based on the blockchain with multipurpose uses and aims.
And one thing is certain: if anything was not invented yet, it is just temporary, because the blockchain allows all kinds of experimentation.
