{"id":59,"date":"2016-03-30T14:21:00","date_gmt":"2016-03-30T14:21:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.holytransaction.com\/dutch-central-bank-to-develop-its\/"},"modified":"2023-01-10T03:26:56","modified_gmt":"2023-01-10T01:26:56","slug":"dutch-central-bank-to-develop-its","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/holytransaction.com\/blog\/2016\/03\/dutch-central-bank-to-develop-its.html","title":{"rendered":"Dutch Central Bank to develop its DNBCoin Blockchain"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to a recent press release, the <b>Dutch Central Bank<\/b> planned to develop a <b>new blockchain<\/b> called \u201c<b>DNBCoin<\/b>\u201d.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">On March 16th, <b>De Nederlandsche Bank<\/b> published the <b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dnb.nl\/binaries\/Jaarverslag%202015_tcm46-339389.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">2015 annual report<\/a> <\/b>where they explained this blockchain project.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><a style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\" href=\"https:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/-wbzk25CiDtI\/VvvgxvRKXcI\/AAAAAAAAAVA\/fug4pqzo5QcWnnZDM6vQx-hZYOylbaY9g\/s1600\/logo.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/holytransaction.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/logo.png\" width=\"400\" height=\"127\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">For <b>DNB<\/b> the blockchain technology will be able to improve its business, but the report doesn\u2019t give details on the project, not even a release date or the goals, yet.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">DNB only describes the projects as a <i><b>&#8220;prototype coin based on blockchain technology\u201d<\/b><\/i> that <i>&#8220;aims for 2016&#8221;.\u00a0<\/i><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">On the report the blockchain is described as a possible cost-saver in the financial industry, even if the DNB commented that it&#8217;s early to say what possible applications it could have in the future.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">The report explains:<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><i>&#8220;Blockchain technologies can affect the revenue models of banking systems, they can also benefit with new ways to generate revenue and reduce costs.&#8221;<\/i><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Payments and banking consultant <b>Simon Lelieveldt<\/b> commented:<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><i>&#8220;So when we now see central banks moving forward in the electronic cash domain (now conveniently labelled: blockchain\/FinTech) it might be to no longer spin it off to the market, but to create a permanent digital replacement of cash.
