\nAccording to Dr. Paul Ennis<\/b>,<\/a> researcher at The Centre for Innovation, Technology & Organization <\/b>at University College Dublin, there are four types of bitcoin users<\/b>: nerds, speculators, criminals and libertarians. <\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nIn his own study, Ennis explains that each of these profiles identifies a different benefit or reward <\/b>in the use of bitcoin:<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\n– For computer programmers, the rewards for mining<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\n– For speculators, the volatility<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\n– For the libertarians, the perceived lack of regulation<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\n– For criminals, the perceived anonymity.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n

\nYellowitz and Wilson Whitepaper <\/h3>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nTo know more about the characteristics of Bitcoin users<\/b>, you also can read this whitepaper<\/a> written by Aaron Yelowitz <\/b>and Matthew Wilson <\/b>in 2015. <\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nYelowitz and Matthew Wilson identified four types of Bitcoin users too (pg 1030): computer programming enthusiasts, speculative investors, libertarians and criminals. <\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n

\nLibertarians<\/h3>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nMaybe the greatest part of Bitcoin users<\/b> are the libertarians, because this cryptocurrency can allow a method of payment free from a centralized authority. <\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nIn fact, according to an online survey<\/a> by Lui Smyth<\/b>, researcher at University College London, 44.3% of Bitcoin users identify themselves as \u201clibertarian\u201d. <\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nLibertarians, for example, don’t trust the government to manage the nation\u2019s currency supply, so they prefer to use Bitcoin instead. <\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nBitcoin is not controlled by banks or governments, and can zip across the globe and – of course – it’s stateless.<\/b>
\n
