{"id":2427,"date":"2017-06-02T22:45:55","date_gmt":"2017-06-02T22:45:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/holytransaction.com\/blog\/?p=2427"},"modified":"2017-06-02T22:45:55","modified_gmt":"2017-06-02T22:45:55","slug":"bitcoin-regulation-europe-titanium","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/holytransaction.com\/blog\/2017\/06\/bitcoin-regulation-europe-titanium.html","title":{"rendered":"Bitcoin regulation: EU to oversee digital currencies"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"single-leaderboard-ad\">\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Bitcoin regulation<\/strong> in Europe is moving forward after the decision of EU to fund a new tool.<\/div>\n<div id=\"advert-top-leaderboard\" class=\" ad-main\">\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\">The <strong>European Union<\/strong> is funding a tool for the <strong>Investigation of Transactions in Underground Markets,\u00a0<\/strong>a project also dubbed &#8220;TITANIUM&#8221; that will be developed over the next 3 years.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\">This\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/cordis.europa.eu\/news\/rcn\/141335_pl.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">initiative<\/a>\u00a0about <strong>digital currencies surveillance<\/strong> is backed by $5m in funding from the EU and it involves a few government agencies and academic researchers including\u00a0Interpol, Interior Ministries from Spain and Austria, Finland&#8217;s National Bureau of Investigation, and University College London.<\/div>\n<div class=\"article-content-container\">\n<p>In an official statement, members explained that the idea came because of the recent events of ransomware attacks all arount the world.<\/p>\n<p>At the same time, those involved in the project argue <strong>not to violate user privacy rights<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;The consortium will analyse legal and ethical requirements and define guidelines for storing and processing data, information, and knowledge involved in criminal investigations without compromising citizen privacy,&#8221;<\/em> said Ross King, senior scientist for the Austrian Institute of Technology (AIT) that is one of the research institutions involved in this project.<\/p>\n<p>That the EU would take this approach is not surprising as they previously pushed aggressively for greater control on cryptocurrency users <a href=\"https:\/\/holytransaction.com\/blog\/2016\/02\/european-commission-wants-to-regulate-virtual-currencies.html\">back in 2016<\/a>, with the European Parliament following suit earlier this year.<\/p>\n<p>Read more about bitcoin regulation in Europe <a href=\"https:\/\/holytransaction.com\/blog\/?s=europe&amp;submit=Search\">by clicking here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Open your free digital wallet <a href=\"https:\/\/holytransaction.com\/app#!\/signup\">here<\/a> to store your cryptocurrencies in a safe place.<\/p>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Bitcoin regulation in Europe is moving forward after the decision of EU to fund a new tool.
