\nfast becoming a mecca for hip Bitcoin-related events with the launch of a
\ncontemporary art exhibition by Jenna Lash this week.<\/div>\n

\n<\/div>\n
\nFurther to its innovatively sponsored music
\nfestival<\/a>, the center is
\nbranching out to an ever more diverse demographic of Bitcoin<\/a> followers, and
\ncontinuing to attract some noteworthy names. <\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nContemporary
\npointillist painter Lash has an international following for her work, and a
\nselection of those indexed under her Monetary Series collection will be
\ndisplayed in New York until September. <\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\n

\n\u201cThe artwork in this exhibition is a visual
\nconversation about the exchange and aesthetic of money,\u201d<\/i> she said in a press release about the event, \u201cThe highly-charged images of currency and
\nhow they represent personal values that become public values are the focus of
\nthis exhibit.\u201d<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n

\n\u201cHighly-charged\u201d<\/i> indeed, as the Bitcoin community is making
\never more significant waves in modern opinion of traditional currency and the
\nstructures surrounding it. \u201cMoney is an abstract concept based on
\nfaith,\u201d<\/i> Lash continues, \u201c\u2026<\/i>Will we continue to need vaults, gold, soldiers,
\nand insurers to protect that faith?  Or will virtual currency be our
\nsaving grace?\u201d<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n

\n<\/div>\n
\nThe works themselves,
\nwhich \u201crun the gamut of U.S. military
\nscrip, a U.S. silver certificate incorporating a Native American portrait, the Australian
\nDollar, the Chinese Yuan, and two British Pound Notes, to highlight only a
\nfew,\u201d<\/i> are hardly understated, some measuring up to 48 inches by 60 inches
\n(122 centimeters by 152 centimeters).<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nCenter founder Nick
\nSpanos said he was excited about hosting the event, as Lash and her husband had
\nbeen regular visitors in the past. \u201c<\/i>We intend to give
\nthe exhibition of these paintings the attention, care, and seriousness that the
\nworks themselves demand,\u201d<\/i> he continued.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nThe exhibition will be marked by a
\nlaunch party tomorrow (May 29), and while not offering free energy drinks or
\nfeaturing sponsorship by the New York Museum of Sex as was the case with the
\ncenter\u2019s music festival, it will provide a less business-oriented environment
\nfor Bitcoin and cryptocurrency education to be spread.<\/div>\n
