Baroncini Turricchia<\/i><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">(<a href=\"http:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/italy-house-of-parliament-hosts-bitcoin-believers\/\">CoinDesk<\/a>) Italian bitcoin enthusiasts gathered at the Chamber of Deputies, the<br \/>\nlower house of the Italian parliament, in Rome on Wednesday with the aim<br \/>\nof informing Italian lawmakers about the economic benefits of <a href=\"https:\/\/holytransaction.com\/page\/what-is-bitcoin\">bitcoin<\/a>.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">The 11th June event, organised by bitcoin consultancy <a href=\"http:\/\/www.coincapital.it\/2014\/06\/10\/i-bitcoin-entrano-a-montecitorio\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Coin Capital<\/a>, featured\u00a0participation from parliament member\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/it.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Stefano_Quintarelli\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Stefano Quintarelli<\/a>\u00a0and Senate Vice President of the Treasury and Finance Committee\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.senato.it\/leg\/17\/BGT\/Schede\/Attsen\/00029139.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Francesco Molinari<\/a>, as well as representatives from Italy\u2019s academic and banking sectors.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Coin Capital told CoinDesk that the first two hours saw its partners Sebastiano Scr\u00f2fina and Guido Baroncini Turricchia, University of Rome \u2018Tor Vergata\u2019 telecommunications professor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/pub\/francesco-vatalaro\/5\/8a5\/331\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Francesco Vatalaro<\/a> and investment bank Banca IMI\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/ferdinandoametrano\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ferdinando Ametrano<\/a> introducing <a href=\"https:\/\/holytransaction.com\/blog\/2015\/09\/the-capabilities-of-blockchain.html\">blockchain technology<\/a> and its monetary applications.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">At the event, Bit-Wallet also unveiled the country\u2019s first <a href=\"http:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/bit-wallet-launches-italys-first-home-grown-bitcoin-atm\/\">domestically produced bitcoin ATM<\/a>.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Baroncini Turricchia characterized the remainder of the day\u2019s events, stating:<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<blockquote><p>\u201c<em>Risk and opportunity were clearly disclosed in a neutral way. In the second part, [a representative moderated a] discussion between politicians, institutions and business, and [many questions were asked by these participants].<\/em>\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p>The events come in the wake of the Central Bank of Italy\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.loc.gov\/lawweb\/servlet\/lloc_news?disp3_l205404033_text\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">May warning<\/a> that domestic investors should avoid buying, investing in or using bitcoin as a currency due to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/price\/\">price volatility<\/a> and the lack of consumer protection laws to\u00a0protect consumers.<\/p>\n<p><b>Proliferating bitcoin<\/b><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><a style=\"clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;\" href=\"https:\/\/holytransaction.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/20140619_201105-1-576x1024.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/holytransaction.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/20140619_201105-1-576x1024.jpg\" width=\"225\" height=\"400\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>A second, non-affiliated event, organized by digital payment advocacy group <a href=\"http:\/\/cashlessway.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">CashlessWay<\/a>, is set to take place on 26th June. Speakers will include bitcoin banking provider Robocoin CEO Jordan Kelly and parliament member Sergio Boccadutri, who presented a proposal for regulating bitcoin under existing Italian law <a href=\"http:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/italian-amendment-treat-bitcoin-like-cash\/\">in January<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Robocoin indicated it is looking forward to the event as a way to help educate an influential government about the nascent technology, stating:<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<blockquote><p>\u201cItaly is full of cultural tastemakers and has a rich history in banking and finance.
