{"id":2128,"date":"2017-03-07T18:06:26","date_gmt":"2017-03-07T18:06:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.holytransaction.com\/?p=2128"},"modified":"2017-03-07T18:06:26","modified_gmt":"2017-03-07T18:06:26","slug":"blockchain-academy-new","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/holytransaction.com\/blog\/2017\/03\/blockchain-academy-new.html","title":{"rendered":"Blockchain Academy: a new institution in India"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Kerala\u00a0will soon host its own\u00a0<strong>blockchain academy<\/strong>, the second institution to be opened in India.<\/p>\n<p>This became possible thanks to a new collaboration between the Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management Kerala (IIITM-K) and the <a href=\"https:\/\/blockchainedu.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Blockchain Education Network<\/a> (BEN).<\/p>\n<p>This new Blockchain Academy will be focused on <strong>innovation and tech consulting<\/strong>.\u00a0Specifically, \u00a0of course the academy will explore the distributed ledger use cases related to banking, healthcare and governance.<\/p>\n<p>The first Indian\u00a0blockchain academy was organized by <strong>Primechain Technologies Private Limited <\/strong>based in Baner, near the well-known city of Mumbai and it offers a few different courses for both developers and curious people who aim at knowing more about the tech.<\/p>\n<p>Recently, a new Kerala\u00a0enterprise\u00a0was\u00a0announced\u00a0by\u00a0Dr. Rajasree during the blockchain conference held at the Technopark in Kerala\u2019s capital Thiruvananthapuram, according to an press <a href=\"http:\/\/indianexpress.com\/article\/education\/blockchain-technopark-iiitm-k-to-initiate-first-blockchain-technology-academy-in-kerala\/\">release<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This speech also featured Senior research scientist\u00a0for <strong>IBM Research Labs<\/strong>, Dr Dilip Krishnaswamy, and Michael Gord of the BEN, who explained about the blockchain benefits through a video conference.<\/p>\n<p>IIITM, or the institution that co-founded this new academy, supports the so-called &#8220;<strong>Maker Village project<\/strong>&#8221; in the Keralan city of Kochi. Maker Village is an electronics incubator that sees the blockchain as a relevant topic related to the development of new IoT solutions for machine-to-machine payments.<\/p>\n<p>India has always been interested in bitcoin and blockchain news.<\/p>\n<p>For example, last week, <strong>Reserve Bank of India<\/strong> (RBI) deputy governor Rama Subramaniam Gandhi explained that digital currencies are \u201cbeing overstated\u201d.
