(CoinTelegraph<\/a>) This month, the number of educational institutions welcoming students who wish to pay using digital currency has increased substantially. This comes as no surprise, however, since the current academic year just ended, registration is opening up for the fall semester.<\/i><\/p>\n

The King\u2019s College, NYC, US<\/h2>\n

One of the leading institutions<\/a> in the United States \u2013 The King\u2019s College<\/a> announced that it will be welcoming students who want to pay using Bitcoin<\/a>.
\nThe King\u2019s College<\/a> is a Christian\u00a0liberal arts college founded in 1938 by Percy Crawford, located in Lower Manhattan, New York.
\nNow with help of New York\u2019s Coin.co it becomes the first accredited
\ncollege in the US to accept digital currency. Dr. Gregory Alan
\nThornbury, President of The King\u2019s College stated:<\/p>\n

\u201cThe King\u2019s College seeks to transform society by preparing students
\nfor careers in which they help to shape and eventually to lead strategic
\npublic and private institutions. Allowing Bitcoin to be used to pay for
\na King\u2019s education decreases our costs while simultaneously allowing
\nour students to be a part of this exciting new technology.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Team Treehouse<\/h2>\n

On Thursday June 12, a famous US-based online education provider \u2013 Team Treehouse \u2013 officially announced<\/a>\u00a0that it will be accepting Bitcoin<\/a>\u00a0via\u00a0Coinbase\u00a0as one of a payment options. The company\u2019s press release stated:<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u201cAs one of the fastest growing payment methods,\u00a0Bitcoin\u00a0will give
\nmore people across the world the opportunity to learn with Treehouse.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Treehouse is a place for people who want to learn how to coup with HTML or CSS, make iPhone apps, start their own business.<\/p>\n

University of Nicosia, Cyprus<\/h4>\n

Once again we mention the University of Nicosia<\/a>,
\nwhich was the first to accept Bitcoin for payment of tuition and other
\nfees. Dr. Christos Vlachos, Chief Financial Officer for University of Nicosia<\/a> stated:<\/p>\n

\u201cDigital currency will create more efficient services and will serve
\nas a mechanism for spreading financial services to under-banked regions
\nof the world. In this light, we consider it appropriate that we
\nimplement digital currency as a method of payment across all our
\ninstitutions in all cities and countries of our operations.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Anyone who wants to advance their education here will probably find a
\nan area of interest they\u2019re looking for \u2013 University of Nicosia offer
\nschools of business, education, humanity, social science, law,
\nengineering and arts.
\nA big advantage of the University of Nicosia is that it is accepting
\nBitcoin throughout their whole University network, including affiliated
\ninstitutions in London, Cyprus, Greece, Romania and others.<\/p>\n

University of Cumbria, UK<\/h4>\n

In the beginning of the year, the University of Cumbria in the United Kingdom also announced that it will accept Bitcoin<\/a> for the payment of fees. The founder and director of IFLAS, Professor Jem Bendell, stated:<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u201cWe believe in learning by doing, and so to help inform our courses
\non complementary currencies, we are trialling the acceptance of them.
\nThe internal discussions about currency and payment innovation and the
\npractical implications for different departments have been insightful.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The acceptance of Bitcoin is limited to the two programs only – Certificate of Achievement in Sustainable Exchange<\/a> and\u00a0Postgraduate Certificate in Sustainable Leadership<\/a>. Both courses are already in progress as a trial though it shouldn\u2019t be the last one as \u201cthe university will learn from this trial and develop its awareness of innovations in complementary currencies and payment technology.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n

Language centers<\/h4>\n

Additionally, there are also various private languages studios all over the world happy to accept digital currency.<\/p>\n

A2Z School of English<\/a> could be the first English as a Second Language (ESL) school in the world to accept digital currency. The announcement that it will adopt Bitcoin as a payment method was published<\/a> back on November 5, 2013.
