{"id":2066,"date":"2017-02-16T13:06:08","date_gmt":"2017-02-16T13:06:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.holytransaction.com\/?p=2066"},"modified":"2020-11-09T05:39:07","modified_gmt":"2020-11-09T03:39:07","slug":"blockchain-regulation-europe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/holytransaction.com\/blog\/2017\/02\/blockchain-regulation-europe.html","title":{"rendered":"Blockchain Regulation in Europe: everything you need to know"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today I want to explain you everything you need to know about the Blockchain Regulation in Europe.<\/p>\n<p>Recently, in fact, the executive arm of the European Union government revealed that is working on the blockchain to &#8220;support&#8221; distributed ledger-based projects.<\/p>\n<p>According to this\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.europarl.europa.eu\/sides\/getAllAnswers.do?reference=E-2016-009012&amp;language=EN\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">new official press release<\/a>\u00a0published on February 7th, the Commission is looking for growing its efforts on supporting more projects related to the distributed ledger technology (DLT).<\/p>\n<p>The European Commission is &#8220;actively monitoring Blockchain and DLT developments&#8221; and is working on exploring &#8220;DLT benefits and challenges as well as fields for application in financial services&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Also, the official press release explained that the Commission wants to &#8220;pilot projects to foster decentralised innovation ecosystems and help reshape interactions between consumers, producers, creators and among citizens, businesses and administrations to the end benefit of society&#8221;.<\/p>\n<h2>A task force for Blockchain Regulation<\/h2>\n<p>Last year, the European Parliament also created a <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/holytransaction.com\/blog\/2016\/05\/a-task-force-to-control-digital.html\">new task force<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>led by the Commission, to study the blockchain.<\/p>\n<p>This task force has not only the goal of <strong>studying the blockchain<\/strong> but also to support projects related to the ledger and studying a way for a blockchain regulation.<\/p>\n<p>The <a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"European Commissioner for Digital Agenda\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/European_Commissioner_for_Digital_Agenda\">European Commissioner for Digital Single Market<\/a> and <a title=\"Vice-President of the European Commission\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Vice-President_of_the_European_Commission\">Vice President<\/a> of the European Commission, explained:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cThe Commission is already supporting distributed ledger tech-enabled projects (DECODE, D-Cent, MyHealth MyData). Support activities are going to increase in the coming months (e.g. Decentralised Data Management).
