{"id":1976,"date":"2017-02-06T12:57:17","date_gmt":"2017-02-06T12:57:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.holytransaction.com\/?p=1976"},"modified":"2020-11-09T05:27:59","modified_gmt":"2020-11-09T03:27:59","slug":"blockchain-tourism","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/holytransaction.com\/blog\/2017\/02\/blockchain-tourism.html","title":{"rendered":"Blockchain Tourism: a task force in Hawaii"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A new <strong>Blockchain Tourism<\/strong> project will be created in the State of\u00a0<strong>Hawaii<\/strong>, where legislators decided to form a new working group focused on the blockchain tech.<\/p>\n<p>If approved, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/legiscan.com\/HI\/bill\/HB1481\/2017\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">House Bill 1481<\/a>\u00a0will lead to the creation of a task force with the goal of researching the use and practices related to the \u00a0distributed ledger technology.<\/p>\n<p>This project is sponsored by <strong>Democratic Representatives Chris Lee <\/strong>and<strong> Mark Nakashima.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The official bill explained:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;The legislature finds that highly innovative technologies such as blockchain require an educated and measured approach so that regulations do not stymie innovation and growth in this State.&#8221;<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The long-term goal, the bill states, is to seek ways for the technology to benefit local industries, residents and the State of Hawaii.<\/p>\n<p>Should the measure be approved, the working group will have to prepare a report about the <strong>potential use cases specific to the State of Hawaii.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This research would also provide information on how the state itself could leverage the blockchain.<\/p>\n<p>Among the areas of interest, of course, there would be the topic of\u00a0<strong>tourism payments.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The bill also suggests that Hawaii should look to the technology as a way to encoure tourists from abroad to spend, <strong>improving the local economy.<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;Digital currencies such as bitcoin have broad benefits for Hawaii.
