It has a 30 second<br \/>\nconfirmation time, large market cap, their BlackHalo project is keeping<br \/>\nit in the forefront of the Bitcoin 2.0 space and they seem to be the<br \/>\nonly team to get altmining pools done in a responsible way that doesn&#8217;t<br \/>\nharm other coins.<\/p>\n<p>It is also proof-of-stake based, with its proof-of-work mining period long over. While, as the team and the white paper <a href=\"https:\/\/www.blackcoin.co\/blackcoin-pos-protocol-v2-whitepaper.pdf\">is quick to point out<\/a>,<br \/>\nproof-of-stake has been secure enough to prevent any serious security<br \/>\nbreaches to its 15 \u2013 20 million dollar market (not to mention the<br \/>\nmarkets of other proof-of-stake coins like NXTCoin, <a href=\"https:\/\/flyp.me\/en\/top-cryptocurrencies\/what-is-peercoin\/\">Peercoin<\/a> and<br \/>\nNovacoin) there have been some concerns voiced by the community.<\/p>\n<p>Rather than waiting to see if their coin can withstand a serious<br \/>\nattack when potentially hundreds of millions of dollars are on the line<br \/>\n(assuming Blackcoin continues to grow) the developers are taking a<br \/>\nproactive approach and plugging up those potential vulnerabilities now.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/holytransaction.com\/blog\/2020\/08\/staking-blk-blackcoin-on-holytransaction-wallet.html\">Proof-of-stake protocol v2<\/a> ditches the somewhat controversial Coinage<br \/>\nsystem completely. Coinage is a system that has only coins, which have<br \/>\nbeen moved into a wallet recently (after thirty days but less than<br \/>\nninety days), accruing interest in the minting process. This system was<br \/>\ndesigned to encourage transactions and therefore spending. However, it<br \/>\nresulted in a less secure system as nodes were able to gain enough<br \/>\ninfluence over the system to perform a double spend. There was also an<br \/>\nissue where honest nodes would only remain on while their coins were<br \/>\ngaining interest. More nodes equates to a more secure network, so the<br \/>\nnew system is designed to encourage nodes to participate at all times by<br \/>\nnot deactivating minting on coins.<\/p>\n<p>Adjustments have also been made to stop pre-computations of<br \/>\nproof-of-stake. Proof-of-stake pre-computations had attackers matching<br \/>\nor exceeding the network hashrates for short amount of times and<br \/>\nrewriting the blockchain to double spend coins they do not yet have.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/holytransaction.com\/page\/black%D1%81oin-%D0%BA%D0%BE%D1%88%D0%B5%D0%BB%D0%B5%D0%BA-%D1%81%D0%BE%D0%B7%D0%B4%D0%B0%D1%82%D1%8C-%D0%B7%D0%B0%D1%80%D0%B5%D0%B3%D0%B8%D1%81%D1%82%D1%80%D0%B8%D1%80%D0%BE%D0%B2%D0%B0%D1%82%D1%8C-%D0%BE%D1%82%D0%BA%D1%80%D1%8B%D1%82%D1%8C-online-%D0%BE%D0%B1%D0%BC%D0%B5%D0%BD\">Blackcoin&#8217;s new system<\/a> addresses this by changing the stake modifier at<br \/>\nevery modifier interval.<\/p>\n<p>Blackcoin will also be switching from Scrypt to SHA256d because<br \/>\nScrypt doesn&#8217;t offer any advantages in a <a href=\"https:\/\/holytransaction.com\/blog\/2020\/08\/staking-blk-blackcoin-on-holytransaction-wallet.html\">proof-of-stake system<\/a> and since<br \/>\nBlackcoin&#8217;s proof-of-work phase is over, it is no longer needed.<\/p>\n<p>The team behind Blackcoin is dedicated, talented and apparently has a<br \/>\nreal knack for solving problems.\u00a0 Steve McKie, Project Manager for the<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/flyp.me\/en\/top-cryptocurrencies\/what-is-blackcoin\/\">Blackcoin<\/a> Development team and representative of the <a href=\"https:\/\/holytransaction.com\/page\/Portefeuille-Blackcoin-porte-monnaie-cr%C3%A9er-en-ligne-change-enregistrer-franc%C3%A9s\">Blackcoin<\/a><br \/>\nFoundation stated:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><i>\u00a0\u201cWith PoS Protocol V2.0, we wanted to plug any searing<br \/>\nvulnerabilities that may have existed in the protocols previous version<br \/>\nthat were left over from previous attempts at PoS (<a href=\"https:\/\/holytransaction.com\/page\/what-is-peercoin\">Peercoin<\/a>, NovaCoin).<br \/>\nThe main developer of the protocol, Rat 4 (Pavel Vasin) has been hard at<br \/>\nwork making sure that BlackCoin users and merchants are as protected as<br \/>\npossible from malicious attacks on the network\u201d<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>In the same vein, <a href=\"https:\/\/holytransaction.com\/page\/%D1%81reate-Blackcoin-wallet-online-register-free-best-exchange-multicurrency-Bitcoin\">Blackcoin<\/a> is switching its Timestamp rules from<br \/>\nones that mirrored Bitcoin&#8217;s to one that is designed to take advantage<br \/>\nof the proof-of-stake system.
