{"id":1909,"date":"2017-01-24T17:40:32","date_gmt":"2017-01-24T17:40:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.holytransaction.com\/?p=1909"},"modified":"2017-01-24T17:40:32","modified_gmt":"2017-01-24T17:40:32","slug":"deutsche-borse-blockchain","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/holytransaction.com\/blog\/2017\/01\/deutsche-borse-blockchain.html","title":{"rendered":"The newest Deutsche B\u00f6rse Blockchain project"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A new Deutsche B\u00f6rse blockchain project was unveiled today as the market operator revealed a new blockchain proof-of-concept to manage bank cash transfers.<\/p>\n<p>The so-called &#8216;CollCo&#8217;\u00a0(or, &#8216;collateralized coin&#8217;), is the new Deutsche B\u00f6rse \u00a0blockchain project created together with Eurex Clearing, or the clearing house used by the Deutsche B\u00f6rse.<\/p>\n<p>Using the same code of the Hyperledger Fabric project as a basis, the company wants to obtain a patent approval for this revolutionary transfer solution available thanks to the distributed ledger.<\/p>\n<p>According to \u00a0the official press release shared by the Deutsche B\u00f6rse, the\u00a0next step is to work with customers, regulatory and central banking contacts.<\/p>\n<p>This is the official description for CollCo:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cAll peer-to-peer payments based on tokenised commercial bank money are accompanied by movements of collateral between the respective Eurex Clearing members using the [central counter party&#8217;s]\u00a0functionality and rules.&#8221;<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The press release continues by saying that the idea links together &#8220;existing and potential new use cases&#8221; as the &#8220;handling of margining requirements, credit risk free payments, and delivery-versus-payment asset\/value transfer on the blockchain&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>The Deutsche B\u00f6rse has spent much time during the past year \u00a0testing several\u00a0blockchain use cases, including one thanks to a partnership with Germany\u2019s central bank.<\/p>\n<p>Also, in February 2016, the company partecipated at the New York blockchain startup Digital Asset Holding\u2019s $60m funding round.<\/p>\n<p>During a <a href=\"http:\/\/deutsche-boerse.com\/blob\/2875392\/f35cc04ca948c3ebf1ebaf64266f2f36\/data\/kengeter-jahreseroeffnung-dbag-2017_en.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">speech<\/a> given last week, CEO Carsten Kengeter talked about the so-dubbed \u201cExchange 4.0\u201d powered by next-generation technologies.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cExchange 4.0 will use blockchain intelligently. Exchange 4.0 will convert data into investment tools.
