\nToday\u2019s announcement details how the Bitcoin<\/a> Foundation\u2019s education
\ncommittee creates guides for the general public about Bitcoin. It also
\ndescribes the committee\u2019s goal to decentralize information about the
\nalternative currency by having content creation available to anyone on
\nGitHub. Anyone can join the education committee<\/a> and
\n contribute to, update, or edit the content on GitHub. Membership in the
\n committee will be determined by contributions, not by a decree.<\/div>\n

\n<\/div>\n
\nThe three objectives of the Bitcoin Foundation are the
\nstandardization of, the protection of, and the promotion of Bitcoin. The
\n education committee focuses on promotion<\/a>
\n of Bitcoin, which in the \u201ccontext of public misunderstandings,
\nmisinterpretations and misrepresentations\u201d about Bitcoin, \u201callow[s] the
\ncommunity to speak through a single source.\u201d With this
\nmethod, the foundation seeks to improve Bitcoin\u2019s reputation.<\/div>\n

\nThe committee has already created some guides<\/a>, including an introduction to Bitcoin<\/a>, suggestions on purchasing bitcoin<\/a>, choosing a wallet<\/a>, using Bitcoin for business<\/a>, and the currency\u2019s technical side<\/a>. The it documents the committee\u2019s presence on social media<\/a>, including their Twitter<\/a> and Facebook<\/a>, as well.<\/div>\n

\nIf this experiment in decentralized content creation is successful,
\nthe committee won\u2019t need a chairperson, which adds to the middle
\nman-less nature of Bitcoin. People in the committee would come and go as
\n they please. Ideas would gain and lose momentum as they become updated
\nor tossed aside. With GitHub, everyone\u2019s work would be visible to the
\npublic, and everyone could assist in educating the world about Bitcoin.<\/div>\n
